Military Parole in Place – If I enlist, will my family members benefit?

Enlisting in the U.S. Military is a big decision for many reasons, with a variety of risk and advantages. Within the context of immigration, enlisting in the military could yield benefits for you or your relatives who are undocumented or don’t have permanent status in the U.S., including Parole in Place.

The Military Parole in Place program allows active duty members of the armed forces, individuals in the Selected Reserve of the Ready Reserve, or Individuals who previously served on active duty in the Selected Reserve of the Ready Reserve and who were not dishonorably discharged, as well as the spouse, widow(er), parent, son, or daughter of those service members to apply for a lawful admission to the United States, also known as parole. People who have been paroled into the U.S. are also eligible to apply for work authorization. For some individuals, parole may even open the door to other immigration opportunities, like applying for permanent residency through a relative who is a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident.

If you or a family member are a member of the U.S. armed forces, or if you are considering enlisting and would like to talk about Parole in Place or other immigration benefits for members of the military and their family, please contact us to schedule a consultation!
